Fifteen years ago, a Chinese immigrant with a love for flavor and community took over La Unica Bakery—a Cuban staple in Union City. What followed wasn't a reinvention, but a continuation, with care. The original recipes stayed. So did the spirit. But alongside them came new influences, higher standards, and a space where everyone felt at home.

What began as a neighborhood bakery grew into something bigger. Seven years later, we opened our second location in Jersey City Heights, guided by the same simple mission: serve good food, made right, at prices that make sense.

Now, we're stepping into a new chapter. We're rebranding as Unica—a name that nods to where we started and where we're headed. It means "unique," and that's what we strive to be: a place where Cuban heritage meets global flavor, where tradition meets intention, and where every guest feels like a regular.
